Complete safety system engineering and safety process development

  1. Formal Requirements and Hazard Analysis - We start with a formal requirements specification and create a hazard analysis and safety requirements to mitigate any hazardous situation. 
  2. Safety System Engineering- Utilizing the safety requirements and defined safety integrity level (SIL), we engineer a complete safety system (hardware and software) to meet the safety requirements.
  3. QMS Based Software Dev - Starts with ISO 9001:2015 at its core, and follows a default framework that considers all essential requirements of the 9001 system and how they are effectively adapted to software-specific development cycles. 
  4. Functional Safety Management -  Starting from ISO 26262, UL4600, ISO/PAS 21448 and ISO 18497, Northstar develops safety cases for all safety-critical products using best practices adopted from the automotive industry and scales them based on determined hazard levels.
  5. Safety Technology- A safe system does not just involve a safety process.  It includes technology that can be used to minimize the engineering burden with creating a safety system.  We utilize ISO 26262 certified hardware and software from Blackberry QNX that can be certified to SIL 3 / ASIL D
